Hasmukh C. Patel is the founder and chairman of HCP. He studied B.Arch at MS University, Vadodara and M. Arch at Dept. of Architecture, Cornell University, New York. He has contributed significantly to contemporary architecture in India in a career spanning more than five decades. His practice started as a three-man office in 1960 and has grown in strength to over 200 people with a legacy of over 800 built projects all across India.

His work covers a diverse range of projects - townships, industrial units, hotels, hospitals, housing, public buildings, commercial complexes, academic institutes, cinemas, theatres and sports facilities. All of which are practical, modest, easy to maintain and user-friendly structures. Some of his most celebrated projects are the Chinubhai Centre, Patang Hotel, Newman Hall, Centre Point Apartments, St. Xavier's Primary School, Reserve Bank of India and Dena Bank.

He was Honorary Director at the School of Architecture, CEPT, Ahmedabad from 1972 to 1981 and Dean from 1978 to 1988 during which period CEPT consolidated its position as a premier institution. He has served as visiting professor at many universities in India and abroad. Hasmukhbhai is an avid painter, his creativity output explores many different mediums.

Dr. Bimal Patel is a practicing architect, urban designer, urban planner and an academic. For over thirty years he has traversed disciplinary, professional and institutional boundaries to explore how architecture, urban design and urban planning can enrich the lives of people living in India’s cities. He received a Diploma in Architecture from the School of Architecture, in Ahmedabad, India in 1984. In 1981 he apprenticed with Prof. Frei Otto in Stuttgart Germany. Between 1985 and 1990, he studied, researched and taught at the University of California, Berkeley, from where he received a Masters in Architecture, a Masters in City Planning and a PhD in City and Regional Planning in 1995.

Dr. Patel heads HCP where he has led work on a wide range of institutional, commercial, housing, industrial and urban design and urban planning projects across India. In 1996, Dr. Patel founded Environmental Planning Collaborative (EPC), a not-for-profit consultancy, policy-research and advocacy organization. EPC’s innovative approach and nationally recognized work have transformed planning and urban design in Gujarat.

Since 2012, Dr. Patel heads CEPT University as its President. There, he has led a comprehensive re-imagination, re-invention and modernization of this fifty-year-old institution’s pedagogy, research focus, institutional organization, governance and infrastructure. Dr. Patel's research focuses on architecture and urban planning history, land use planning, real estate markets, building regulations and land management.
