Biju Kuriakose co-founded architectureRED, and as partner brings crucial sustainable planning and international design expertise to the firm.

Prior to founding architectureRED, Biju was an associate at FXFOWLE Architects, a leading architectural, planning and urban design firm based out of New York. He joined FXFOWLE in 2000 and led the design efforts for most of the firm’s large scale planning and urban design projects.

 

With over eleven years of experience developing architectural and urban design projects throughout the world, his works with FXFOWLE include the master plan for Hunter’s Point South in New York; master plan for the 500 acre Dubai Waterfront; East Beach development plan in Queens; the Nassau Hub Major Investment Study in Nassau County, New York; the Willets Point Master Plan in Queens; and the Tern Landing Waterfront Master Plan in Elizabeth, New Jersey.

 

At FXFOWLE, he also served as Project Planner for the Greenpoint/ Williamsburg Waterfront Open Space Plan in Brooklyn; the Redevelopment of Midtown East in Long Island City, Queens;  a redevelopment plan for New Rochelle, New York;, and the winning Boston Society of Architects Density Competition entry, entitled Gloucester Green. His early career included working with several prestigious firms in New York City including Design + Urbanism and Terrence O’Neal Architects.

 

Biju Kuriakose studied architecture at the Rizvi College of Architecture, University of Mumbai, India from 1992 to 1997. Biju went on to study Urban Design in New York and has a Masters of Architecture and Urban Design from Pratt Institute, New York. Biju is a USGBC LEED Accredited Professional and has been invited to several prestigious forums including MWA- New York, Pratt Institute and Columbia University- NY as a speaker and studio critic.

Kishore Panikkar co-founded architectureRED, and as partner brings robust and varied design and implementation experience to the firm.

 

His previous experience includes close to 10 years with Edifice Consultants Pvt. Ltd., a leading architectural design firm in India, including Regional Director of their operations in Chennai and Kerala, South India from 2005 till 2008.

 

As a key player in the firm during Edifice’s growing years, Kishore’s role ranged from design architect, to heading proposals and presentations to handling multiple projects as a Project In Charge and as a Design Studio Group Head. In 2003, Kishore was bought on board as a director in the firm. At Edifice, he played a pivotal role in large scale interior design projects including facilities for Asian Paints, Ventura and Patni Computers. In 2005,

 

Kishore Panikkar moved to Chennai as Regional Director of Edifice’s operations in Chennai and Kerala. His stint in Chennai included overall responsibility for projects in the region and he worked with an independent team of around 20 architects and engineers. During this role, he led the project team on critical projects including the Syntel Global Development Centre, Dow Chemicals, Tata Consultancy Services, Standard Chartered Bank and Pfizer among others.

 

Kishore studied architecture at the Rizvi College of Architecture, University of Mumbai, India from 1992 to 1997, under the guidance of Prof. Akhtar Chauhan. He trained under Architect Salil Ranadive as part of the academic course, and continued to work with the firm after graduation. Kishore went on to work with architect Karan Grover for a brief stint in Baroda and Mumbai in early 1999. Later that year, Kishore Panikkar joined Edifice Architects Pvt. Ltd. in Mumbai. Kishore Panikkar has also held visiting professorship at Hindustan College of Architecture in Chennai and has been actively involved in “Green Chennai”, an initiative to encourage sustainable practices for the city of Chennai.
